Kaufland Bulgaria is among the largest employers in the country and holds a leading position on the Bulgarian market as a company that applies high standards in human capital management, working conditions, and the professional and personal development of its employees. At the same time, the company is actively engaged in a wide range of initiatives supporting children’s well-being, including charitable programmes, urban environment improvement projects, environmental initiatives, educational programmes, and campaigns promoting healthy nutrition and active lifestyles.
The national “Child Friendly Company” Certificate is awarded by the National Network for Children following an audit of companies that systematically work to uphold children’s rights. The audit evaluates business processes, market behaviour, marketing, advertising practices, and the company’s contribution to societal development. The certification is based on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Children’s Rights and Business Principles, developed jointly by the United Nations Global Compact, UNICEF, and Save the Children.
The certificate recognises companies that implement supportive policies for children and create favourable conditions and support mechanisms for employees with children and their families.
“For Kaufland Bulgaria, children are an absolute priority. We continuously develop and expand our own-brand products for babies and children, as well as our sustainability policies aimed at supporting children. We accept this certificate with great excitement – both as recognition of what we have achieved so far and as a commitment to continue placing children at the centre of our efforts,” said Kremena Georgieva, Corporate Communications and CSR Manager at Kaufland Bulgaria, upon receiving the certificate.
As a socially responsible company, Kaufland supports a wide range of projects benefiting society and the environment with future generations in mind. Among its most significant initiatives are WWF’s youth innovation programme Panda Labs, the #ActTogetherWithMuzeiko exhibition, the Teenovator entrepreneurship programme, the Fresh Superheroes Football Championship, and many others.
